Liz Sharp's employment and labor law experience concerns both litigation and counseling employers on various matters. She assists clients on a wide range of employment-related issues, including drafting employment contracts, restrictive covenants, non-compete and non-disclosure agreements, employee handbooks and company policy manuals. She also provides advice and counsel concerning hirings, layoffs, and terminations.

Liz Sharp has hands-on experience defending employment discrimination actions in the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ("EEOC") and in the Illinois Department of Labor, various state and local human rights commissions, and before judges and juries in federal and state courts.

Examples of her work in this area include:

  • Successfully disposing of discrimination charges filed against her clients in the EEOC and similar administrative bodies;
  • Handling cases concerning breach of contract, wage compensation claims, non-disclosure, non-compete and trade secrets agreements, defamation, wrongful discharge, retaliation and employment torts;
  • Representing clients in negotiations and disputes over employment contracts, trade secrets, restrictive covenants, and executive compensation arrangements;
  • Resolving wrongful termination and discrimination (race, sex, age) claims; and
  • Conducting internal investigations of employee wrongdoing and bringing actions for emergency injunctive relief.
